A 61 Year-Old Family Recipe!
In 1963, my dear father, Mr. M.J. Varino and his good friend and fishing partner, Fr. Sam Polizzi, joined efforts in the fine art of making Italian sausage. Dad eventually developed what has now become our famous family recipe for hand-made Italian Sausage. My father was a highly-decorated P-47 Thunderbolt fighter pilot in WWII, a Captain who flew 113 combat missions without ever getting a scratch, his only regret being that he never received the Purple Heart! Upon returning home to Monroe, LA he took over ownership of Rainbow Grocery & Market from his father, Mr. Joe Varino. My weekends and many evenings after school were spent at the family store learning the trade from my father. I give thanks to my wonderful parents for teaching me the Italian tradition of faith in God and love of family and friends.

Born in Monroe, LA on October 22, 1954 to M. J. 'Mike' Varino and Gussie Jacola Varino...4 wonderful siblings: Carmela, Debbie, David and Tina, 3 nieces, 2 nephews and 1 great-nephew..also wonderful!

Employment: Rainbow Grocery & Market, Monroe, LA. My main career was working as a drilling fluids engineer on domestic and offshore drilling rigs from 1980 to 2000; retired in 2000 due to Multiple Sclerosis. My personal philosophy: “Yes, I have MS but MS does not have me.” GOD is in control!

I am an actor, having received a credit for my role as 'the 35 to one guy' in 'The Big Short', have worked alongside countless actors such as George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Nicolas Cage, Andy Garcia, Tom Cruise, Sandra Bullock, Selena Gomez, Ray Liotta, and many others...enjoy doing background work/extras and have worked many local films, including NCIS, etc. Most recently I had a featured role in ‘The Perfect Date’ and I also appeared in the Academy Award-winning movie Green Book.

I was a contestant on Wheel of Fortune in 2015 and I made it to the bonus round only to miss solving the puzzle by just one letter (close but no cigar!) At least I kissed Vanna White at the end of the show!
